Forbes - The new Star Trek game is a perfect adaptation of J.J. Abrams version of the franchise fun, fast, straightforward and shallow.

New Game Network: "Star Trek: The Video Game has flashes of a title that might have been fun to play, but they are few and far between. In the end, the design is so haphazard and pedestrian it ruins any potential the game had. The fans of this beloved series deserve something far better than this."

Bracken Lee-Rudolph from ITF Gaming writes: Star Trek was a title I went into with very little hope of it being good, because it is a dreaded movie tie-in to Star Trek Into Darkness. However, what I was hoping for something akin to Beenoxs 2012 tie-in to The Amazing Spider-Man, a video-game that, while not perfect, delivered an entertaining distraction and a relevant continuation of the films storyline. Unfortunately, this was not what I got, as Star Trek feels like a half-baked, badly-built and horribly-written excuse for a video game, and in the next several hundred words, I will tell you why:

IncGamers' Tim McDonald has to babysit AI Spock in the new Star Trek video game. Is this a call-back to a weird original series episode about the crew getting their brains swapped with idiot children? No, it's just a terrible game.

DHGF: While not entirely bucking the trend of movie tie-ins completely sucking, Star Trek does manage to do a number of things right even with the few broken things that might completely ruin the game for some like the climbing and swimming mechanics and completely brain dead AI on both the enemies and your partner. The story does a good job of reintroducing the Gorn and adding to them, but they still feel like random lizard aliens that are far too generic for their own good. The dialogue and banter between the crew is fantastic and I love the little send-offs to the old show for the fans, but this isnt a game thats easy to recommend with all its faults.

OXM: "Star Trek lives up to the promise of its early demos, which also showcased the games movie-worthy score and our heroes snarky banter. Pine and Quinto deliver the goods; if only this rollercoaster ride sped up instead of slamming the brakes every time we started to enjoy ourselves."

The two biggest downfalls of the game are bugs and innovation (or lack thereof). So often you run into an issue where a co-op action wouldnt work right so you would have to re-load a checkpoint (which thankfully arent too bad).
